- Salary: £26,000 (pro rata)
- Hours: 15 hours per week split over 2 days per week
- Pension: 5% of salary paid by company
- Contract: 12-month contract
- Annual Leave: 25 days per annum, plus 8 public holidays (pro rata)
- Location: Remote, UK-Based

Job Description
Feeding Britain is working towards a future where no one in the UK goes hungry, and where food banks are a thing of the past. The Communications Officer will contribute towards that vision by supporting the delivery of Feeding Britain’s internal and external communications. The Communications Officer will join a small, hard working and passionate team at Feeding Britain.
Main responsibilities:
- Leading on the organisation and running of Feeding Britain’s monthly webinar programme focusing on the dissemination of findings and good practice from our projects.
- Leading on the management of Feeding Britain’s website including ensuring information is up to date, and developing new content.
- Supporting the Communications Manager to write and distribute all written communications materials including the regular email bulletin, supporter e-newsletter, and the dissemination of written information, including good practice, through papers and blogs.
- Supporting the implementation of Feeding Britain’s social media strategy via the development and posting of social assets, including photo-based, video-based and graphic-based content, and the regular management of Feeding Britain’s social media pages.
- Supporting the Communications Manager with ad hoc communications projects including branding implementation, the production of infographics, factsheets, graphics, and resources.
- Supporting the Communications Manager with the development of Feeding Britain’s media coverage, including sector publications and mainstream media, supporting Feeding Britain’s external communications efforts to raise awareness of our work and how we can end the need for food banks in the UK.
- Supporting with communications related administrative tasks including communicating with projects, potential donors, supporters, and partners.
- Working closely with the Feeding Britain Communications Manager, Project Officer, Deputy Director and National Director on all of the above.
Person specification
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- An ability to tailor content for different audiences, and to distill and communicate complex information.
- A firm understanding of, and commitment to, Feeding Britain’s vision and strategic priorities.
- Confident with basic graphic design including the use of Canva.
- Highly motivated with an ability to work well independently and as part of a small team.
- Organised, efficient and with excellent attention to detail, and able to use their own initiative.
- An ability to manage competing priorities and a busy workload.
Desirable:
- Some previous work experience in a communications-focused role.
- Some previous work experience producing graphic-based content or video-based content.
- Some previous experience working on issues of poverty and hunger.
